About me

Hi, I am Yasmeen, a mother of 6 children, 2 grandchildren, 2 cats and 2 dogs. So, a little bit about me and my journey. My daughters are Deaf using BSL (British Sign Language) as their mode of communication. I learnt to sign so that we could have open communications, this led to me becoming a qualified registered BSL interpreter, a trainer, assessor, Internal Verifier and External Verifier.

I worked in the field of Social Services and the Legal system and then specialised in Mental Health. I worked predominantly in a National Hospital with Deaf adults, adolescents, and children within the out and in-patients unit with a pool of interpreters and clinicians. During an assessment with a clinician, I was asked if I would consider being a therapist due to my interaction with the young people and, so my journey began into Play Therapy. I am a registered accredited Play & Creative Arts therapist and have continued my journey to complete my qualification as a certified Clinical Supervisor.

I feel that the world has become quite a complex place with perhaps unclear guidelines and structures; there’s a constant need for speed, for targets and the next best thing. This I feel has a detrimental impact on all of us and most people experience ‘imposter syndrome’. Perhaps you may feel that your voice is not heard in any constructive way. As a supervisor, I work creatively so that you are able to explore and express feelings that may sit unconsciously but need to surface consciously.

Sessions are 60 minutes.

In our first session we will complete the relevant paperwork regarding confidentiality, consent, and contract to supervision sessions. We then use the space to explore issues that need to be addressed. This session gives us both a chance to see what it feels like to talk and be together and if we are happy to continue the process.

I offer clinical supervision as 1:1 and in groups. Clinical supervision is a formal process of professional support, reflection and learning that contributes to individual development. It supports practice and helps practitioners to maintain and improve standards by reflecting and working out workable strategies. This is done in a confidential manner that is open, respectful, honest and non-judgemental in a dedicated safe space.
